In the spirit of fun and discovery and the principles of the Maker movement, this resource presents inspiration and directions for creating e-textiles: clothing, wearable accessories, and other textile-based items (even puppets) that contain computational and electronic elements within the fabric. The goal of the projects is to engage children and youth in electronics. Part 1 presents e-textile construction kits with examples of projects, while Parts 2 and 3 look at issues such as making connections across disciplines in high school e-textile workshops, learning about circuitry with e-textiles in after-school settings, and DIY technology and gender. Color photos offer examples of innovative applications. Annotation ©2014 Ringgold, Inc., Portland, OR (protoview.com)
