A highly-illustrated celebration of the creativity and beauty of the textile arts juxtaposes historical and contemporary pieces from around the world.
UK-based Schoeser is a recognized textile authority and Honorary President of the UK Textile Society. She has advised numerous organizations on historic textiles and wallpapers, including English Heritage, the National Trust, Liberty in London, and New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art, and has written several books. Her latest work offers a visual feast of beautiful, innovative, expressive textiles created over the centuries by cultures and artists from around the world. Contemporary textiles are displayed adjacent to historical examples to demonstrate the application of skill and creativity over time, and the diverse results produced by the same or very similar technique. Illustrated with 1000-plus full-color photographs, the materials are organized into six thematic chapters: impact, ingredients, structure, surface, added dimensions, and imagery.
